Dear Subodh,
If you remember, I taught English in the DC while you were there, for I have a vivid memory about
you. I read your well researched article on the history of the Daly College and will
certainly compliment you for your work, a fitting tribute from
an Old Dalian to his alma mater. Good job, well done. I wish to know more about you, your family and where are you living as well as working and all other details that I have missed asking for.
Bless you, keep well and happy.
Pradeep Ghosh

Hello Subodh
It is wonderful to find that an Old Dalian has created a website to bring together
a number of ODs together. I learnt about your site through another old Dalian of
yester years who sent me some of the 125 year photographs compiled by you.
I am S.Ravindranath [OD 1959-1968]. Presently I am working as a Deputy General
Manager with Bank of India at Head Office, Mumbai in the Business Process
Re-engineering Department.
I was there for the 125 year celebration for the last two days, but couldn’t stay
back for the finale [Raageshwari].
While going through the note about yourself it reminded me about my own entry into
the DC in 1959. I am also from a very humble background and came to DC thanks to
GOI scholarship. I was usually in the top three in all the monthly and annual
examinations. I used to play harmonium in the school orchestra and deputised for
the Music Teacher Mr.M.M.Varma during morning prayers whenever he was on leave. and
stood 54th in Higher Secondary Examination [out of a little over a lakh who wrote
the exam then and got further scholarship to study in Presidency College at
Chennai. I joined Bank of India in the year 1974.
When I landed in February 1959, I could neither speak or understand English nor
Hindi. I was literally pushed in to the pool to swim as it were. It was Ms.Raj
Kumari Singh [Late] who taught me through sign language and in a couple of months
time I picked up enough to manage a double promotion from Standard I to Standard
III. The late Mr.R.N.Zutshi was my Principal throughout my stay and unfortunately
he passed away a month after we left DC. It is his daughter Sulekha who sent me
your photos on the celebration and I went through your website.
Wish you all the best not only in maintaining this wonderful website, but also in
all your endeavours in your chosen career.
God Bless and Happy New Year
