Daly College was first opened in 1870
in the name of
ResidencySchool.

The founding date for Daly College
has been fixed at
1882.
In
1902, the
marble bust of
Sir Henry Daly
was presented by the Maharaja of Gwalior
The pride of the Daly College is
the Main Building. Conceived by
Sir Hugh Daly, designed
by Colonel
Sir Swinton Jacob and built by the
CPWD from unpolished marble obtained from the
Udaipur quarries.
The College Main building was
formally declared open on 8th
November
1912 by the Viceroy, Lord
Hardinge.
The first Kumar to pass an
examination of an Indian University was
Shrimant Madho Rao
Kibeof Indore.
Mr.
Percy Hidehas been the
longest serving Principal of the Daly College from
1906 to 1926.
Wilfrid Fanshawe encouraged the
foundation of Old
Boys'Association
in 1928.
The Maharaja of Panna was theFirst Prince to preside
APG in 1934.
In
1940the
College underwent a major change of policy and was
converted into a full-fledged
Public School.
It thus became the
first Chiefs’ College
to throw open its doors to all, irrespective of
caste, creed or social status.
Mr. R.N.
Zutshi became the first
ever Indian Principal
of the Daly College in 1956
Mr.
M. L. Renjanwas
the first Principal to occupy Salter House where
Principals have been residing ever since.
