Dear Subodh:
I had the privilege of being Miss Malkani's pupil from 1974-75 at the Punjab Public School, Nabha. When I came to this
institution, I could barely read, write or understand English. It was her painstaking efforts to introduce me to the English
language. She was a wonderful human being. Simple and pure as a flower, she was patient with students of varied backgrounds.
The values she taught me still guide my daily life.
Day she left for Daly College, Indore, I cried in the Assembly Hall alike others. It was sad to know she died of cancer (
correct me if I am wrong). I still have her picture. I marvel at the thought how dedicated few humans could be. She was one
of those. She lives in my memories.
If you have anything to share about Miss Malkani's tenure at the Daly College, I would love to hear that.

Dear Subodh
Thanks for your response. It is amazing how this Great Soul touched so many lives. I am happy to know she shaped your future
and catapulted you from humble beginnings to a wonderful Life.
I can walk down the memory lane with you: 'Look, Listen and Learn' was the learning material Miss Malkani used in class. She
would hold the book in a blue color hand towel to prevent soiling the book. Every moment of her presence was a learning
experience for her pupil. I came from rural side of Punjab. Like many, totally raw. She, like an artist, chiseled us to be
counted. I did not know how to use knife and fork at the dining table. Miss Malkani would help me to hold it correctly.
She was the Head of Junior School of the Institution. She was a strict disciplinarian. Very fair. Simple, always clad in
white sari. Like an angel, at middle of winter nights, I had seen her walking in dorms covering boys who somehow in sleep,
got out of their warm blankets.
We, the beneficiaries , Salute Miss Malkani.
Wherever you are, I wish you well. You have the permission to publish my letter.
