1980-1989:
It was the early 80's that Ashutosh Verma topped the entrance
test to the NDA and qualified along with five other Dalians.
Sunil Gupta did well be securing a UWC scholarship to
Vancouver, Canada. Dinyar Godrej & Rahul Pathak won
the IPSC debate.
In 1980, Old Dalian of eminence, Raja Digvijay
Singh
of Raghogarh
was invited as Chief Guest to the APG. At
that time, he was the Minister of State for Agriculture in the
Government of Madhya Pradesh. In
1982, a new Dining Hall design was approved with a
seating capacity of seven hundred and was eventually
inaugurated by Governor of M.P., Shri Bhagwat Dayal Sharma.
The Swimming Pool was renovated.
The Centenary Year was celebrated in 1982. The Chief
Guests included the then Chief Minister, Mr. Arjun Singh,
India's Home Minister, Mr. P.C.Sethi, renowned author, Mr.
Khushwant Singh & the Governor of the State, Mr. Bhagwat
Dayal Sharma.

Visitors
to the College in 1983 included film star Ashok Kumar and
cricketers Vivian Richards & Sunil Gavaskar. General
Vaidya, Chief of the Army Staff was the Chief Guest in Feb
1985. Squadron Leader, Rakesh Sharma visited the college.
In
Nov. 1985, the President of India, Zail Singh visited
DC as Chief Guest for the APG. In
1986, the college Hockey & Cricket team visited Aitchison
College, Lahore, as part of their Centenary Celebrations. In
1987, Devang Kapadia was Vice Captain of the U-17 M.P. team in
the Cooch Bihar tournament. Vijayendra Ghatge attained fame as
an actor in the tele-serial "Buniyad". In
1987, Mr. Bhatnagar moved to Lawrence School Lovedale as Head.
1987 was the year when Sunil Gavaskar, the cricketing legend,
visited as Chief Guest.. In 1988, Air Commodore, G. Venugopal
joined as Principal. In 1989, the Chief Guest was Justice Oza. |
