1920-1929:
In
1920, the Government of India tried to convert DC permanently
into a Military Training School for Indian Officers. Then on
February 1, 1922 the Prince of Wales visited the college. He
was accompanied by the Earl of Cromer. This was a kind of
encouragement and the college survived. The Prince of Wales,
on this occasion, held a durbar in the Assembly Hall.
Later
that year, in October, Lady Alice Reading visited and those
who received her included the rulers of Raigarh, Jaora, Dewas
Senior, Dewas Junior, Alirajpur, Jhabua and Sitamau.
Prior
to Hide's retirement, in
1922-23 it was decided to vest the management of the College
in a working Committee consisting of five members, and the
recognized College Council, with the Viceroy as its
President,
met for the first time on 7th January 1925. Those who attended
included Sultan Jahan, Begum of Bhopal, the Maharaja of Dewas
Junior, Maharaja Sajjan Singh of Ratlam, Maharaja Yadvendra
Singh of Panna, the Raja of Rajgarh, Raja Ram Singh of Sitamau
and Maharaja Tukoji Rao Puar of Dewas Sr.
One
student to pass out of the college in 1925 was Kunwar Ram
Singh Alirajpur (Kathiawada). He became the first Indian
Prince to study at the London School of Architecture and was
made a fellow of the Royal Institute of Practicing
Architects.

Lord
Irwin visits DC
He
designed a number of palaces, Bombay Hospital, Vallabhai
Patel Stadium, Khadakvasala Academy, Wadia college, Jinnah
House & number of buildings for the Tatas & Birlas. Wilfrid
Fanshawe succeeded Percy Hide and served as Principal
from 1927 to 1930. In 1928, the Daly College Magazine was
published for the first time.
In
1928, electricity was connected to the College Buildings.I
July that year, Lord Irwin visited. In 1929, Science
Laboratories were donated by Maharaja Tukoji Rao Holkar of
Indore. Fanshaw encouraged the foundation of Old Boys'
Association in 1928.Rao Bahadur Sardar Kibe was appointed
Vice President. It was decided that the President would be
elected from the Ruling Princes who had studied at DC for a
minimum of 03 years. The first Patrons were the Maharajas of
Dewas Senior and Dewas Junior. After the elections, the
Association flourished under the Presidentship of the Raja of
Khilchipur and the Secretaryship of Malik Bapu Mian, a member
of the staff.
