The
Gwalior Boarding House
1890-1899:
In 1892, the Gwalior
State presented a new and magnificent Boarding House called as
Gwalior Boarding House.The
Kumars of the Daly College resided in this Boarding House. Students
who stayed in Gwalior House included Maharaja Tukoji Rao Puar
of Dewas and Raja Arjun Singh of Narsingarh.
The first Kumar to pass an examination of an Indian
University was Shrimant Madho Rao Kibe of Indore.
He
passed the Matriculation Examination of the Allahabad
University in 1894. He was also the first Kumar of the Daly
College to take a University Degree obtaining the B.A. degree
in 1899 and the M.A. degree in 1904. Kibe was later
honoured by the University of Paris for his treatis on the
"Location of Lanka".
Gwalior House is now the
office of the MPPSC.
In
1890, the Principal of the Daly College was made ex-officio
Assistant to the Agent of the Governor General in Central
India.

General Maharaja Sir Sajjan Singh of Ratlam, GCIE,
KCSI, KCVO,
ADC to King Emperor George V studied at the Daly College from
1893 to 1897.
